Il trono di spade è sempre al comando, con ben 23 nomination, mentre la miniserie The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story segue da vicino con 22 nomination e Fargo si piazza terza con 18. Nella lista delle nomination ci sono anche delle novità, come Black-ish, Master of None di Aziz Ansasri, Mr. Robot e The Americans.
A differenza delle nomination dell'Oscar di quest'anno, per gli Emmy sono diversi i candidati. Viola Davis (Le regole del delitto perfetto), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Cuba Gooding Jr. (The People vs. OJ Simpson), Idris Elba (Luther), Audra McDonald (Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill), Kerry Washington (Confirmation), Aziz Ansari (Master of None) e Anthony Anderson con Tracee Ellis Ross di Black-ish sono tutti in lizza per il premio in una serie drammativa, commedia o mini serie. Ci sono anche serie con attori di colore, come Black-ish e Master of None per la Miglior serie commedia e Roots e The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story per la miglior miniserie.
Gli Emmy saranno assegnati il 18 settembre a Los Angeles. Intanto, ceco la lista completa delle nomination del primetime.
