Sono state annunciate le nomination degli Mtv Video Music Awards 2016. Beyoncé vanta il maggior numero di candidature (11 nominations) grazie al suo ultimo album Lemonade, segue Adele al secondo posto con 8 candidature.
Hello di Adele (canzone che, da sola, ha ottenuto 7 nomination), Formation di Beyoncé, Hotline Bling di Drake, Sorry di Justin Bieber e Famous di Kanye West si contendono il premio Video dell'anno.
Altre nomination da segnalare sono quelle di Rihanna, Calvin Harris (la sua ex Taylor Swift è stata la grande vincitrice degli Mtv Vma 2015), Ariana Grande, David Bowie per il suo ultimo album Blackstar, e FKA Twigs, favorita nell'indie.
Lemonade di Beyoncé non è l'unico video che può conquistare dei premi. Molto accreditati alla vittoria anche Florence + The Machine, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown e Troye Sivan.
